Q: What is different from last year?
A: Prizes are better. We have more room for players and for side events. There will be more judges. Teams are now exactly 4 ppl and the team score counts the best record per member.

Q: If I pre register for 2 events and already qualify for Top 8 on Saturday, can I get a refund for Sunday?
A: Yes you can.

Q: How do I register as a team?
A: First you pre register individually. Then, before the deadline (March 25), you send an email with 4 registered players to hkopen@wherethemagichappens.org (or to Sjoerd Willems in a Facebook/Whatsapp message).

Q: How is the team score calculated?
A: The team score is the total match points of each of the 4 team members, using the best record per member if a member plays in 2 main events. Only main event points are counted.

Q: How many rounds will the tournament be?
A: Because of time limitations, each main event will have 6 rounds. Top 4 will play 1 single elimination match to determine the top 2. If a main event has 65 or more players there will be a top 8 playoff instead.

Q: Where will the tournament take place?
A: At the University of Hong Kong, Library Extension 7 and 8 (2 rooms - close to the location last year).

Q: Did someone say "side events"?
A: These will be announced asap, but there will be side events (Legacy, draft, maybe Frontier and others).

Q: How can I win byes?
A: By finishing in the top 10 of the Weekday Magic Ranking or by winning a HK Open Trial. There are only byes for round 1. If you win 2 byes, you can only use these is separate main events.

Q: When are the HK Open Trials?
A: All the participating stores can organise 1 HK Open Trial. This can be any format. Ask you store about details.

Q: Where can I register?
A: At A Joy, Basic Land, Battleground, League Castle, War Room, Weatherlight and at the HKU Chess Club.

Q: Until when can I register with Early Bird Discount?
A: Until February 19!

Q: Can I register on site?
A: It is possible, but availability is very limited. Registration on site is 180 for Constructed and 300 for Sealed Deck.

Q: What are the registration fees?
A: Early Bird: 160/260 and 2-day-packages 300/400/500 - Normal Prereg: 170/270 and 2-day-packages 320/420/520.
